TLDR version: Virtual reality entertainment has been a disappointment. Predictions of a burgeoning VR content market have not been realised, not yet at least. There are signs that the headset market is making progress, and not only amongst younger audiences. The cost of headsets remains a barrier for many, but the real obstacle is the lack of a wider VR ecosystem that can support entertainment services. When it comes, it will create new challenges for relevance and discoverability of traditional media.
