Generative TV will generate content industry conflict

TLDR version: A recent research paper from Fable Studio on the AI generation of TV episodes shows that AI tools for TV production are making rapid progress. The paper documents a tool that can generate an entire Southpark episode from a simple user prompt. We think that the results of the simulation show that creative input from humans is still necessary – for now. But it is impossible not to conclude that generative AI will have a major impact on the process and costs of production for (at least some) TV genres, and sooner than expected.
