BRIEF: The times will suit FTA TV as households turn to “free”

Abstract: Last month we found that FTA TV reach increased sharply in FY24, challenging the narrative of an inevitable FTA TV decline (“FTA TV’s FY24 viewing data bucks the narrative of decline”). Is this a blip, or the beginning of a trend? We argue that there are now some significant economic and policy drivers emerging that will support FTA TV viewing in the longer term.
