TLDR version: Low Earth Orbit Satellites (LEOSats) are expected to play an important role in meeting the communications needs of Australians living in regional and remote areas. LEOSats can also serve as enablers of new commercial, environmental and public-benefit applications of the Internet of Things (IoT). This brief summarises recent policy discussions surrounding the role of LEOSats in these two areas.
